Question

Guys, I'm a little new to blogger...I was hoping you could answer a few questions:
1. When I leave a comment on someones blog, how do I know whether there was an answer posted without having to go to that person's comments page everyday?
2. How do I read new posts in my favorite blogs without once again visiting every blog separetely?
Please forgive the stupidity of the questions :-)) I am switching from livejournal where these things are automated...
Help!!!

Gosh, I have no idea what so ever - I'm quite old fashion and visit them and check for replies ;)

But if you do figure it out, do lemme know.

And btw, welcome to blogging world!

cheers!

You have to go to their blogs to see the comments they've replied to.

For question two, you can subscribe to all of your favorite blogs on Bloglines (www.bloglines.com) and everytime a blog is updated, it lists it there. You don't have to just click on random blogs. Good luck.

For question #1, it depends on the settings of the other person's blog (not something you can control). They may have an option you can check to notify you of an followup comments, or, they may not!

#2, I use Technorati to keep track of my favorite blogs, and every day just log into my technorati.com account to see if any of my favorite bloggers posted since I last checked. Very easy to use!

Good luck and have fun blogging--I've enjoyed it!

For question number two, I recommend subscribing to a blog's syndicated feed - Bloglines or Google Reader are easy sites for managing blog subscriptions. You can tell at a glance which blogs have been updated since your last visit and read them there or click through to have the full experience of each site.

For question number one, I use a plugin for the Firefox browser called Convotracker - which lets me know any time a comment thread (like this one!) has been updated.

Hi Lara,
to answer comments on my blog, I mostly write a personal mail. When you click on the name and it´s not anonymous, you´ll get a link to the person´s blog and mostly find the mail addy there - in the blogger profile or in an "Email me" link on the blog. This makes contacts much more personal.

You could sign up for cocomments which keeps a track of all your comments and all replies that follow after. http://www.cocomment.com
